Don Maynard
My practice frequently involves utilizing the detritus of the modern world; I transform the cast-off material of society into work that makes reference to nature and natural phenomena. In my installations I have created rain showers, oceans, and snowstorms. I am currently building a forest.
I am interested in light and the manipulation of space and form and am drawn to the aesthetic qualities intrinsic in the materials I use, so that in my work the materials have meaning in themselves both aesthetically and conceptually.
